A formal partnership formed between two neighbouring farms of 900 acres and 2000 acres.
The two partners decided to rationalise their farm machinery by holding a farm sales where they raised in excess of £100,000.
The money raised was invested in new, larger machinery which has substantially reduced production costs on the two farms to £60/acre.
One partner looks after the day-to-day running of the business while the other handles the financial management and administration, allowing both of them to concentrate on their core skills.
Both partners found that the cultural change of collaborating with another farmer has also increased their enjoyment of farming.
