A labour and machinery joint venture set up in 2002 between owner-occupier James Hamilton and nearby tenant farmer Tony Appleby, who together farm 2,700 acres of combinable crops.
The partners were brought together by their shared farm consultant who proposed collaboration to both of them to reduce their production costs.
Tony Appleby's landlord was also very supportive of the partnership.
By working together they have drastically reduced their costs by around £40/acre, they have increased crop yields and gained better equipment for both businesses.
