Launch of the Shropshire Fresh Start Academy

18th April 2007

On 18 April 2007, the launch of the Shropshire Fresh Start Academy took place. With guest speakers from the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs, and the NFU, together with the Young Dairy Farmer of the Year 2006, Robert Bowdler; the evening was a great success. Also in attendance were Academy partners, who include leading businesses and organisations within the County, together with farmers; potential candidates and other industry representatives.

Following on from the success of the launch, we would now like to hear from farmers looking for somewhere to develop sound business skills and further develop their careers.

The aim of the Academy is to offer entrepreneurial farmers the opportunity to build on their industry knowledge and offer them a core of skills to better equip them in the industry. The 12 month programme will also be tailored to the aspirations of the candidates.

Working with partners in the industry, we will seek to identify opportunities for candidates and 'match-make' them with farmers looking for a solution to their succession issues, or simply looking to step back from actively farming.

If you are a farmer looking for an opportunity, or a farmer looking for a solution to your succession issues, please contact the Shropshire Fresh Start Academy on 01939 262106, 07967 438516 or email shropsruralhub@wnsc.ac.uk or contact EFFP West Midlands Regional Manager Simon Thelwell.
