November event series

30th November 2007

The NFU organised three farmer meetings in Peterborough, Grantham and Norwich, in conjunction with EFFP, to help growers adapt to the sugar beet contract reforms.

The meetings were attended by over 150 growers who heard about a number of issues key to the success of the industry in the future. These included the flexibility of the new IPA contract, beet growers perceptions on collaboration, relative cereal break crop competitiveness and developing production groups for the future.

DVD business case studies of existing collaborative production groups were shown to delegates to illustrate the potential benefits of collaborating with others.

EFFP intends to continue to work with the NFU to develop a more collaborative approach to sugar beet production to and ensure the industry can remain competitive and sustainable.
