Latest News: Business opportunties for livestock farmers in South West

English Farming and Food Partnerships have secured funding from Devon Rural Renaissance to help livestock farmers in the county develop joint ventures. The number of livestock farmers working together is growing rapidly with groups such as Sutcombe Agripower and the Mayhill Lamb group showing just how successful it can be.

Livestock farmers in South West can access a range of support which will enable them to pursue collaborative working as a way of reducing costs and adding value to their produce. Possibilities for joint working could include collaborative marketing, input purchase, machinery sharing or labour sharing.

Liz Bowles, South West Regional Manager, EFFP comments: "EFFP are delighted to be able to offer this support to livestock farmers in the region. There is a range of support available including workshops, a group facilitation service, group establishment and mentoring.

The support is available until the end of March next year and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. If you think your business could benefit don't delay in contacting EFFP."

Existing and new groups of livestock producers are able to benefit from this support.

EFFP was set up in 2003, with the backing of the farming and food industry, to help address the issue of disconnect that exists between farming and food companies and to actively promote the benefits of collaboration. It delivers business advice and develops co-operation and partnership activities - not only between farmers but also between farmers and supply chains.
